What are the best questions to ask my interviewer during an interview?
Answer:
Try to avoid pro forma questions: How many associates will you hire next year? Do you serve sorbet in the cafeteria? Also steer clear of the blatantly self-serving ones: What percentage of associates do you expect to make partners in, say, eight to ten years? These are questions you can answer on your own.
Focus, instead, on serious questions about their practice.
- In which areas do you expect the firm to focus in the future?
- How do you evaluate associate performance?
- What traits do you see as most important in prospective partners?
Don't lay it on too thick, but do look at the equation from their perspective, too.
