The apprenticeship program is based on the firm's beliefs that the apprenticeship program is a good response to the current economic environment which has resulted in a direct impact on law firms. Over the past year, law firms feeling the crunch of a sagging economy have deferred the starting dates of new attorneys or rescinded offers of employment until the market improves. According to a new release, the firm stated the program will also benefit clients because they can offer a reduced billing rate for work done by associates in the apprenticeship program.

According to the new release, John R. Crockett III, chairman of Frost Brown Todd, which is to pay top dollar to new lawyers and then immediately put these inexperienced attorneys to work for clients. We're presenting an alternative — the opportunity for young attorneys to develop and master their legal skills through an apprenticeship program, so that they are sooner able to deliver real value at less cost to the client.''

Upon completion of the apprenticeship program, new associates have the chance to earn a performance based bonus and proceed to the regular pay scale after their first year if their performance adheres to the company's standards.

Earlier this year, the firm merged with the Indianapolis firm of Locke Reynolds. Currently, Frost Brown Todd LLC employs nearly 450 lawyers throughout eleven offices in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee and West Virginia.
