'A part-time paralegal is a paralegal who works on a flexible or part-time schedule. Part-time paralegals perform traditional paralegal functions, but they do so on a modified schedule that allows them more control over their time. Some part-time paralegals work in the litigation departments of law firms, helping attorneys sort through discovery and prepare for trial. Other part-time paralegals work for corporate or real estate departments, helping draft documents and assemble the documents needed to close corporate and real estate deals. Part-time paralegals handle a wide variety of tasks to assist attorneys in their practices. However, because part-time paralegals are not attorneys and have not been admitted to the bars of any state, part-time paralegals must always work under the direction of a practicing attorney.
