The US Department of Labor has announced significant layoffs in the legal field, meaning that the number of lawyers and law firm staffers being laid off has attracted the notice of the Labor Department. According to the Labor Department, the US legal industry shrank by 1,100 jobs in May of 2008 alone. That's about 1.4% of the industry.
