Senator Brightbill joins Stevens & Lee P.C.
Former Pennsylvania Senate Majority Leader Sen. David Brightbill has joined law firm Stevens & Lee P.C. Since 1982, Brightbill has served the 48th Senatorial District, which includes Lebanon County and parts of Berks, Chester, Dauphin and Lancaster Counties. He has worked on economic development and has knowledge on Pennsylvania businesses needs and different ways in which the state government can assist in meeting them. With approximately 180 lawyers, Stevens & Lee represent clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and across the country from 15 offices.

McGuireWoods names new chairman
McGuireWoods, LLP, has announced the appointment of Richard Cullen as the firm's new chairman. He succeeds Robert L. Burrus, Jr., who becomes Chairman Emeritus. A member of the executive committee, Cullen heads McGuireWoods' white-collar and government investigations team. He specializes in representing companies in complex civil commercial litigation and defending clients confronting investigation. New York City litigation firm appoints one partner and two counsel
Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler, LLP, has announced the appointments of Daniel S. Ruzumna as a partner and Andrew P. Beame and Stuart E. Pollack as counsel. Daniel S. Ruzumna focuses his practice on defense of clients involved in white-collar criminal investigations and other regulatory proceedings. Beame is a corporate transactional lawyer and specializes in private equity, venture capital financing, and mergers and acquisitions. Pollack, a patent litigator, also works on patent prosecution and patent counseling. New York City-based Patterson Belknap has 200 lawyers and specializes in litigation.

Arent Fox buys West Coast law firm
Arent Fox has announced its acquisition of O'Brien Abeles, a West Coast law firm. The move will allow Arent Fox to develop a presence in California. O'Brien Abeles has nine attorneys working in its Los Angeles office and is on the verge of hiring two more. Arent Fox will send two of its lawyers to Los Angeles, increasing the number of lawyers in the office to 13. A diversified law firm with 26 practice groups, Arent Fox has more than 300 lawyers and serves Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and start-up companies.

Ogletree Deakins expands into Philadelphia
Pittsburgh, PA-based law firm Polito & Smock has announced that it will combine with Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. —one of the largest labor and employment law firms in the US. The move would create a Philadelphia base for Ogletree Deakins, which has most of its offices in the South and the Southwest. With six attorneys, Polito & Smock specializes in the areas of labor and employment law, while Greenville, SC-based Ogletree Deakins has 350 lawyers working from offices in two dozen U.S. Cities.

Buckingham Doolittle merges with Kaufmann & Kaufmann
Akron law firm Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs LLP has announced its merger with the small local firm of Kaufmann & Kaufmann by inducting its three attorneys to its Akron office. Philip S. Kaufmann, Loma L. Swett, and Steven P. Mutersbaugh, who specialize in disabled and elderly law, will join Buckingham Doolittle's Trusts & Estates Practice Group. Established in 1913, Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs has 167 attorneys working from offices in Akron, Cleveland, Canton, Columbus, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach.
