If lawyers have gained a bad reputation, don’t be drawn into it – they do a world of good, they stand for the law, and, if you are an environmental lawyer, they stand for the world. An environmental lawyer lobbies for balanced regulations so businesses and people avoid polluting, recycle and reuse materials, and protect the ecosystem from mankind. While in principle all law does good for humanity, environmental lawyers get the special recognition of seeing a world of difference in their work.
Environmental lawyers help protect the environment.

As with most legal professions, environmental lawyers work long hours preparing for cases. Not only must they understand legal language, but also scientific language, as they are dealing with nature, and the science of nature. Being bilingual in legalese and science is necessary.

Further, and as with all law, having a sense of psychological acumen is necessary when representing environmental lobbyists and activists. You may work with organizations aiming to better the world, or with the government or official bodies aiming at governmental regulation. Private firms also hire environmental lawyers to self-manage their production.

If you want to make a visible difference in the world, and care especially about nature and the environment, specializing in environmental law could be a great fit for you. Go here to find those companies and law firms hiring environmental lawyers.
