First of all, I must note that I only had 8 miles on my training schedule. I headed out being told I was going to run 8 and some change. Well guess what? Lying to me is a good thing, because I ran 8.5 miles - my furthest distance ever!

Yesterday, I had a doctor's appointment out in the burbs. Since I was ALL the way out there, Chelsey invited me to join her on her long run that afternoon!

I've actually never run with anyone else. Can you believe that? No one I know likes to run (although my dad is becoming a runner!).

Well let me tell you something. Running buddies rock!

First of all, I left my garmin and had no idea where I was the whole run, so I wasn't constantly checking my distance, time and pace. I could just relax and enjoy the run!

Also, it was great to have someone to talk to! We chatted (ok, Chelsey chatted and I attempted to speak while running, gotta work on that), and the time flew by! I practically forgot I was on my long run! Well, other than those hills! (there are no such things as hills in downtown, Chicago ).

So thank you, Chelsey for letting me join you on that run! And I totally understand the Friday afternoon run thing now, it's all done for the weekend!

For breakfast this morning, I had to plan ahead. I saw an AMAZING looking recipe for Chai Chia Oatmeal on Hungry Hungry Hippie! I recently found Elise's blog and love her recipes!

I did make a few changes based on what I had on hand, but here's how it went:

First I heated 1.5 Cups of water and then let some vanilla chai tea steep in the water. Then I heated it back up so it was nice and hot!

While the water was heating, I combined 1/2 cup oats, 1 T chia seeds and 1 T raisins in a bowl.

When the water was hot, I poured it over the mixture in the bowl.

I mixed it all together, along with 1/8 cup milk and 1 tsp peanut butter.

Then I stuck it in the fridge to see how it turns out in the morning!

Unfortunately When I pulled it out, it was still pretty soupy. I think it's because I used the same amount of liquid, but half as many chia seeds and no coconut, so there wasn't as much there to soak up the moisture.

No problem though, I popped it in the microwave to cook off the extra liquid!

So good! I'm a huge fan of Chai, plus the bowl was massive!

Before I head off to go APPLE PICKING today (can you tell I'm excited?) I wanted to share this lovely video of Molly with you all. She spends a good bit of the workday alone in the apartment, and she has become very good at playing alone. Personally, I think she has an amazing imagination.

She also will pick up a bone and throw it in the air and then go get it! She's too much. Oh, by the way, she's even bigger now than in this video (it's from last Sunday) and her hair is much darker! It's crazy how much she changes every week!
