Rebecca Brewer
Summary: Rebecca Hendricks Brewer, a McKinney attorney known for representing and counseling several Texoma cities, and ex-wife of a former judge of the 366th District Court, was arrested last Thursday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Rebecca Hendricks Brewer, an attorney who has worked as legal counsel to several Texamo cities including Frisco, Wylie, Melissa, Van Alstyne, and Sanger, and who represents the economic development corporations of many of these cities was arrested by McKinney police on Thursday.

She is a current director and shareholder of McKinney law firm Abernathy, Roeder, Boyd & Joplin. Her attorney profile on the website says her practice focuses on representing governmental entities and municipalities.

Dallas News reported that after the incident, Frisco spokeswoman Dana Baird said in an email that her involvement in the work of the city would depend upon her employer law firm. News 12, KXII also reported that the city of Van Alstyne released a statement by Frank Baker, the City Manager, mentioning "Ms. Brewer and the law firm have not performed legal services for the City of Van Alstyne or the Van Alstyne Economic Development Board since 2007."

Brewer was accused of shooting at her boyfriend with a handgun, shooting at the windshield of his car, and cutting his arm with scissors. Reportedly, she also used the scissors to puncture the tires of the car. Her children were at home when the incident took place.

The boyfriend's affidavit mentions Brewer shot a round at him from the porch, upon which a neighbor came out to inquire. Then Brewer made her boyfriend make several phone calls at gunpoint and make confessions. She also made him write a check to her for $8000.

Her ex-husband, Greg Brewer, immediately sought a temporary restraining order against her and sought and received immediate custody of their three sons aged 15, 13, and 11, reported Dallas News. The motion filed by the father of the children mentioned that while in the care of Rebecca Brewer, a minor child had recently become "highly intoxicated" and had to be hospitalized.

Rebecca Brewer was released on the same day as of her arrest upon furnishing a cash bond.
