The high drama surrounding the trial of Ohio attorney Javier Armengau came to a close for the moment as the jury found him guilty on 9 out of 18 counts against him, on Wednesday. Armengau had been accused by multiple women and five of his accusers had taken the stand along with Armengau and a Franklin County judge. Armengau is expected to appeal.

The five women included a former employee of the attorney, two former clients, and the mothers of two former clients of the criminal defense lawyer.

One of the women, Lisa Griffey talked to 10TV and appeared vindicated. She had accused Armengau of raping her inside the Franklin County Courthouse and asking her to have sex with Judge Richard Frye to lighten the sentence of her son.

During his testimony, Judge Frye vehemently denied any knowledge of the event and his involvement. Jurors too seemed unconvinced and returned not guilty verdicts on two counts pertaining to accusations made by Griffey. Griffey had filed a police report in 2009 accusing Armengau of sexual assault - four years before he was ultimately arrested.

Armengau himself took the witness stand this Monday and told the court that he was a victim of a conspiracy of the women accusing him and supported by the prosecutors, the police and the state Attorney General's office.

Armengau maintained to the last that he did never do anything that was improper and all relationships had been consensual and between adults. 10TV reported Armengau's defense attorneys had expected either an acquittal or a hung jury.

The man will be sentenced in August and if he fails to submit and win an appeal, he may have to spend more than 40 years behind the bars.
