U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has announced the appointment of eight new U.S. Attorneys to serve two-year terms on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee (AGAC).

While speaking on the appointments, Holder said, "Each of the U.S. Attorneys who serves on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee plays an indispensable role in guiding the Justice Department's work as we confront a range of challenging issues and opportunities. I welcome the eight new members of the AGAC I've chosen to appoint today, and look forward to working closely with them to take fresh, and smart, approaches to fighting crime and achieving justice across the nation."

Holder further admitted that in "the face of daunting staff and resource constraints, our U.S. Attorneys' Offices are performing tremendous work in their districts across the country, standing on the front lines of federal law enforcement efforts."

The eight new members of the AGAC include André Birotte Jr., Central District of California; Thomas E. Delahanty II, District of Maine; Zachary T. Fardon, Northern District of Illinois; Wifredo A. Ferrer, Southern District of Florida; Kerry B. Harvey, Eastern District of Kentucky; Zane D. Memeger, Eastern District of Pennsylvania; Tim Q. Purdon, District of North Dakota; and Sarah R. Saldaña, Northern District of Texas.

The AGAC is currently chaired by the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Loretta E. Lynch. The organization represents the voice of the U.S. Attorneys serving in different states and parts of the country and provides advice and counsel on policy to the U.S. Attorney General. The AGAC also advises the Attorney General on management and operational issues that influence the workings of the Offices of U.S. Attorneys.

Attorney General Eric Holder also thanked the U.S. Attorneys who had completed their two-year terms and are leaving the committee for the present.
