Looper Reed & McGraw’ Will Now Be ‘Gray Reed & McGraw P.C.
Leading Texas-based law firm Looper Reed & McGraw is changing its name to Gray Reed & McGraw P.C. following the resignation of its founding partner, Don Looper. According to the press release posted on the firm's website a mutual agreement was reached on Looper's resignation.
Don Looper had been with the law firm for 28 years, and the mutual agreement for resignation of Looper was arranged when "managerial differences between Looper and the other shareholders went unresolved." The firm has already changed its name and logo on its website.
Emphasizing that no one was indispensable in a productive system, managing partner J. Cary Gray said, "While Don's resignation leaves us deeply saddened, we are fortunate that none of our attorneys has ever been responsible for so much of our business that a departure would destabilize the firm."
Gray further added, "We all thought the dream of building a great law firm that will survive our own practices of law could be completed before the mantle was fully passed to the next generation of lawyers. That was not to be … we wish Don the very best in whatever is next for him."
The Gray Reed & McGraw, P.C was founded in 1985 and has more than 120 lawyers. It ranks on various business journals and in 2013 it was the 19th largest law firm in Houston. It has offices in Houston, Dallas and Tyler and has more than 59 lawyers only within Houston. Significantly, the firm also ranks among the Best Places to Work in Houston.
Speaking on the change in leadership and name change of the firm, founding partner Jim Reed said, "We are fully confident the firm will not skip a beat going forward. We intend to continue offering first-class, hands-on legal services for our valued clients."
