The arrest was made by the Orange County Child Exploitation Task Force which began investigations after the girl's parents found her having conversation with adult males on Facebook. The men conversing on Facebook with the girl were both local and from out of state. The OCCE Task Force was informed by the parents of the girl on October 16.
Authorities said that the Seal Beach Police Department, Los Alamitos Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff's Department worked together to apprehend Guiterrez.
The statement issued by the Orange County Sheriff's department mentioned, “Based on additional information, the task force believes there may be additional minor victims that Guiterrez has communicated or engaged with.”
Jim Amormino, the spokesman of the Orange County Sheriff's office praised the role of the parents of the girl in helping with the investigation. He said, “It is always a good idea to check what your young children are doing on social media.”
Currently, Guiterrez is being detained in lieu of a $50,000 bail.
