Largely as a result of lawsuits filed against USA Swimming, the United States Olympic Committee initiated standard background checks across all Olympic sports and, for the first time, introduced procedures for handling abuse and molestation at the hands of coaches.
Allard, a third generation lawyer, has been involved in a number of other high profile cases throughout his legal career, which is focused on civil litigation with an emphasis on personal injury, wrongful death, and products liability.
He earned his JD from the University of San Francisco and holds a BA from the University of Notre Dame. He has been practicing law in Santa Clara County for 18 years and is currently active within the Santa Clara Trial Lawyers Association and Consumer Advocates of California.
He was honored as the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyer of the Year in both 2007 and 2009 and was named as one of California’s Top 100 Trial Lawyers by The American Trial Lawyers Association in 2010 and 2011. Additionally, he was received an “AV rating” under the peer review system of Martindale-Hubbell in 2007 and was recognized as a Northern California “Super Lawyer” in 2009 and 2010.
