Both litigation practice and pro bono efforts of Memphis-based law firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz has been strengthened with the addition of shareholder La'Verne Edney in Jackson, Mississippi, office. Edney spend two years at the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project (MVLP) as general counsel. MVLP is a nonprofit organization providing free legal counseling to clients involved in civil cases who cannot afford attorneys on their own. Edney would like to run a wide-open litigation practice because of the past experiences on everything from employment discrimination matters to medical malpractice cases.
