Personalizing the job search process is critical to the CDO staff at Pacific McGeorge. Students and alumni can schedule one on one appointments with career advisors to discuss career options, strategies, goals and concerns.
The CDO puts together email group lists to assist students and alumni get the information they need to foster professional relationships in their areas of interest. Via ''E-groups”, students and alumni can learn about seminars, events and other networking opportunities. Not only do these events aid students in learning more about their areas of interest, it helps them establish relationships in the legal community.
Workshops held throughout the year, sponsored by the CDO, give students and graduates hands-on learning opportunities, and include areas such as resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing, business etiquette, employer research, and survival tips for summer clerks.
The CDO sponsors the On-Campus Interview Program (OCI) each year. Legal employers are invited to the campus to interview McGeorge students for summer and postgraduate positions.
The CDO's Informal Mentor Network helps students and graduates to learn more about a specific practice area by speaking with alumni and other attorneys in the field, and provides networking opportunities.
In addition, the CDO hosts the Alumni Mock Interview program annually in September. Alumni and other local attorneys conduct mock interviews and give feedback to the participants, in order to improve their interviewing skills and boost their confidence. Career advisors are also available year-round to conduct mock interviews with students and graduates.
