After you know that you are already having the right education, you can begin to look at the other things that you need to do. The first thing that you need to do in order to look at the Nebraska bar exam is to review the Rules Governing the Admission of Attorneys. This is going to be found on the website for the Nebraska State Bar commission. It is the first and best place to learn about what the requirements are for Nebraska's bar, and to make sure that you are eligible for the bar exam. You want to look at Appendix A for the character and fitness standards that you will have to meet, and then you can be sure that you have what it takes to actually pass the exam.
The next thing that you will want to do is look at the Nebraska Bar Application form, which is found on the Nebraska State Bar Commissioner's website. You can look at the application through eFast, which is a program that allows you to do the entire application online. You can also download it through Adobe Acrobat Reader, which will give you a chance to print all of the materials out and complete them by hand. You don't need to worry about one form of application being better than the other, as they are both equally acceptable for this situation. You will want to take a look at your schedule to make sure that you can commit to finishing the application somewhere between the first of September and the first of November if you want to take the bar in February—and somewhere between the first of January and the first of April if you want to take the exam in July. Once you know that your schedule will allow you to complete the form in time and to have everything that you need set up for the exam, you should go ahead and start filling out the application.
You will then need to complete the entire bar exam application. Remember, if an application has blank spaces, it will be thrown out, so be sure to write N/A for any questions that aren't applicable to you. Double check your application for any errors that you might have made in filling it out. There are going to be several documents that you'll need in order to continue and complete the application. These will include character references, your certifications from law school, a card with photo identification on it, and perhaps certificates of good standing for any jurisdiction to which you are currently admitted. Be sure that you gather these things and that you take care of them easily.
The next step is to get your Release and Authorization forms notarized. This is a very important part of the process, as it will help you make sure that you have all of the viable information for the process.Put together all of the forms that you have in your application, and make sure that everything that is needed is included in the packet. Mail it to the Nebraska State Bar Commission, in Lincoln Nebraska, and be sure that you have done so within the proper amount of time.
