Once you have your education, and you wish to work as an attorney in Kentucky, you need to take the Kentucky bar exam so that you can get a good job and so that you can be certified to be a lawyer in Kentucky. There are several main steps that you want to take in order to ensure that you have applied correctly for the Kentucky bar exam.
First of all, you want to be sure that you look at the rules for admission to the bar, to determine whether or not you are going to accepted to take the bar exam in Kentucky. It is going to important that you look at the rules that are set forth by the Kentucky Rules of Admission of Persons to Practice Law. This is found in sections SCR 2.011–2.015.Once you have looked at the rules and you know that you are qualified to take the bar exam, there are a few more steps that you need to take to be sure that you are going about the application process correctly and easily. The first thing that you'll want to do is to get a copy of the application from the Kentucky Office of Bar Admissions website. You can also send a written request, and a small fee, to the same office, and they will send you an application.
You want to be sure that you give yourself enough time to make sure you can finish the exam. In Kentucky, you need to apply by October 1st for the exam in February, and for the exam in July, you need to apply for February 1st. You need to be sure that your application is on time, because otherwise you will be subjected to fees.The next step that you want to take is to fill in all of the sections of the application. Be sure that you have done so correctly and accurately. This is very important as it will help you make sure that you have the best chance of being able to sit for the bar when you intend to do so. Be sure that you attach any supplemental documents as needed, and use any additional paper if you need to in order to correctly and completely fill out the form.
Then sign your application and make sure that it is notarized, along with the authorization and release forms. Put your application into a packet, and include the application fee, the authorization and release forms, a credit report, and also a computer testing registration form and fee if applicable. If you do need non-standard testing accommodations, you'll need to be sure to do these forms as well. Your entire application should be mailed to the Clerk of the Supreme Court of Kentucky. Be sure that it is postmarked by the correct deadline, so that you can have the forms ready and waiting for you.If there are any other documents that are required, be sure that you obtain them and mail them in, within the correct time frame.
