New Law Office in Kazakhstan
Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle, a New York-based firm with a roster of 221 attorneys, has opened up a new office in Kazakhstan. The firm's office will focus on international transaction and arbitration matters in Kazakhstan and the region. The office is located in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Former Law Firm Partners Make New Firm
Valorem Law Group has been formed by three former large-firm attorneys. Mark Sayre, Hugh Totten, and Patrick Lamb have formed a firm that will "provide results-oriented expertise in commercial litigation." The firm will also have a non-hourly billing system. The system allows clients a way to "adjust the fees they pay to match the value the firm has provided." The firm plans to add more attorneys in the first quarter of 2008, according to Lamb.

The Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms has announced Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP as its new home. The committee speaks about racial and ethnic diversity matters affecting the legal community in Chicago. The new partnership will run through 2010, and the Committee will move its headquarters to Katten's Chicago office. Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP has over 650 attorneys and has practices around the country.
