Sure, finals are coming up, and from the telling faces of some of my law student friends, this is probably one of the last things on your mind, but sparing just a few hours to spread some kindness could help and may even rejuvenate you. It may sound like a line from a cheesy Hallmark card, but these moments are all about spending some time with the ones you love and assisting others in need.
Whether it be Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or whatever else you plan to celebrate, don't let outlining get in the way of caroling...well, you catch my drift, but it really is something to consider for the good of your soul.
So what should you do? Throw your books out the window? No, not exactly. Just try to pencil in some carefree time with the people closest to you in your life. Set aside a portion of your time to devote to them, and they will be grateful for the moments. Whether it's 30 minutes or a couple of hours, spend time with someone important in your life.
Another important issue that should not be left on the back burner is taking care of someone essential: yourself. A lot of people get sick around this time of year, so don't outdo your body in any activity, whether it's after-exam partying or late-night cramming. Make sure you get enough rest to keep your system balanced.
Take care of yourself and prepare yourself for the holiday frenzy that is fast approaching. If you get practical and divide your time wisely, you can study and stay sane...all while enjoying this special time of year.
