The paralegal studies program at Westchester Community College is approved by The American Bar Association and offers comprehensive, intensive, and hands-on training for students seeking careers as paralegals and/or legal assistants. Introduction to Paralegal Studies, Litigation, Legal Research and Writing, Computer Applications for the Law Office, and Paralegal Internship are the five mandatory core classes. In addition to these, paralegal students will select five other electives within the program to complete their legal assistant education.
The paralegal studies program has students ranging in age from 17- to 75-years-old. For students who are considering the jump to law school, the program offers an excellent pre-law education and many graduates do go on to enroll in law school programs at universities around the state, such as Columbia University, New York University, and Pace University. Still other graduates have changed careers and graduated from Cambridge University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
