Demleitner has been a professor at the law school for six years, and for the past year, she has been the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs. Michelle M. Wu will take over Demleitner's previous post.
Demleitner received her B.A. degree from Bates College and her J.D. degree from Yale Law School. She then went on to clerk for Samuel A. Alito when he was Supreme Court Justice on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Among the subjects that she teaches are criminal, comparative, and immigration law.
In addition to teaching, Demleitner also published a casebook on sentencing law titled Sentencing Law and Policy, serves as the Managing Editor of the Federal Sentencing Reporter, and has been published in numerous law reviews.
"Professor Demleitner lectures widely in the United States and Europe. She has served as a visiting professor at the University of Michigan Law School, the University of Freiburg, Germany, St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, and the Sant' Anna Institute of Advanced Research in Pisa, Italy. She has also been a visiting researcher at the Max-Planck-Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Germany, funded by a German Academic Exchange Service grant," her bio on the school's website states.
