Gomez's trial practice brings him laurels
The 750-member Consumer Attorneys of San Diego has named attorney John Gomez, as the Trial Lawyer of the Year. Gomez who has his own law firm in downtown San Diego is renowned for his outstanding advocacy skills. Gomez is a former federal prosecutor who has been practicing as a civil litigator for the past seven years. During this period, Gomez evinced verdicts and settlements worth more than $130 million, together with multiple awards exceeding $1 million for his clients, including a $106 million jury verdict on "American Beauty" murder case involving Kristin Rossum.
New attorneys at Procopio, Cory
New attorneys Marsha Amin and Chad Chahbazi joined San Diego-based Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP, while the firm also promoted four existing attorneys, Enrique Hernández-Pulido, Roger C. Rappoport to partner status.
Chahbazi earlier served Blue Capital Law Group and practices on corporate formation and governance, debt financing, venture capital, and other corporate matters. Amin practices in all aspects of business litigation.
Among the newly elected partners, Hernández-Pulido is licensed in Mexico and California and earlier served the Mexican government in the areas of tax, finance, and administration. He represents multinational clients in international tax planning and the development of business transactions, worldwide investment, financing structures, planning for worldwide income, and estate and inheritance taxes. Johnson, who worked in the San Diego office of DLA Piper, concentrates on securities law, including public securities, offerings and compliance, venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and venture-backed companies. Lyon practices real estate and finance law in San Diego on a broad range of real-estate transactional matters, with an emphasis on mezzanine lending, acquisitions and sales, financing, development projects, joint-venture formation and other equity investments, and joint-development agreements. Rappoport practice includes general business, corporate, securities, mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital.
New member at McClellan
McClellan Law Firm recruited Robert J. Chambers II as an associate attorney in its litigation practice. Chambers is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association as well as Consumer Attorneys of San Diego.
Lewis partners Hatch & Parent
Robin Lewis, based out of Hatch & Parent's Santa Barbara and San Diego offices, has been named as partner at the firm. Hatch & Parent has a huge name in land use and water law practices in California. Lewis practices in real estate, land use, eminent domain, and environmental quality litigation. The firm hopes to leverage from Lewis' excellent client service and representation. The firm's five offices across the state deal in public and private entities on land use, water resources, and strategic planning.
New partners at Ault, Schonfeld
Ault, Schonfeld, Jordan & Munro LLP's four associates: Cecilia Preciado Ruby, Corinne Coleman Bertsche, Paul W. Smigliani, and Susana M. Mahady have been elected as partners to the firm. All San Diego University products, the four are trial counsel specialists and deal in accountant, insurance broker and real-estate professional negligence, insurance coverage, bad faith, automobile, commercial litigation, construction defect, products liability, employment discrimination-wrongful termination litigation, and appellate practice.
