Alvarado-Garza said she was always interested in the legal profession. She got her start as a paralegal by answering a classified ad in the newspaper.
"I responded to a newspaper ad for a legal secretary," she said. "I didn't have much experience as a paralegal but was happy to get my foot in the door with a firm that had a reputation of being one of the largest, oldest, and most established plaintiff's firms in Austin, TX. I was hired on as a legal secretary and, within three months of employment, was promoted to my current position."
