'A foreclosure paralegal is a paralegal who works in the area of foreclosure and housing law. Foreclosure paralegals work for attorneys who help clients facing foreclosure on their homes, which is a process through which banks that hold mortgages on homes take back the homes for non-payment of loan obligations. There also are foreclosure paralegals who work on the other side—for the banks who are attempting to foreclose on homes. Foreclosure paralegals assist attorneys with a wide variety of tasks, including communicating with clients and loan officers and helping draft paperwork. Because foreclosure paralegals are not attorneys and have not been admitted to the bars of any state, they must always work under the direction of a practicing attorney. Here are a few sample foreclosure paralegal job descriptions: Foreclosure Paralegal The candidate must have 1+ year of post-judgment foreclosure experience. Should have experience preparing post-judgment pleadings, such as Writ of Execution, 3129 Affidavit and Notice of Sale, experience communicating with clients, sheriff offices and other parties from post-judgment through sale. Must be proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and WordPerfect. Foreclosure Paralegal The candidate should have 3-7 years of experience with Foreclosure Litigation in both commercial and residential matters. Must have substantive experience in drafting briefs and motions, responding to subpoenas, facilitating closings and other tasks associated with Contested Foreclosure Litigation. Note: The role will be structured as Temporary to Permanent. Foreclosure Paralegal The qualified candidates must have 3+ years of experience. Real estate or foreclosure experience is required. Must have an aptitude to learn and work in different computer systems. Foreclosure Paralegal The candidate must have 2+ years of experience. Should have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic, detailed oriented and have the ability to handle a large volume of work. Knowledge of the whole foreclosure process and Title preferred. Foreclosure Paralegal - Case Manager Responsibilities: Handle foreclosure files from referral through conclusion of file. Respond to client inquiries via email and keep the client informed of the status of the foreclosure process via on-line system in a timely manner. Independently prepare pleadings, correspondence, court application documents and other required documents for review by foreclosure lawyer, including foreclosure complaint, motions and orders for default, decree of foreclosure, and notice of sale, assist in hearing and trial preparation. Prepare and file claims on behalf of the client with the mortgage insurer. Prepare fee applications and related documentation. Requirements: Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited institution required Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, client service environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 3+ years as a paralegal prior to billing time to SPS Minimum of two years' experience as a paralegal in the foreclosure area. Skilled in the use of Outlook and MS-Word, Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw. Must be proficient with PACER and electronic filing procedures for various federal district and bankruptcy state courts in NY, NJ, CT and DE. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and deliver accurate and timely work. Foreclosure Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for drafting and preparing legal motions and pleadings and preparing for court mediation and settlement conferences. Will also be responsible for coordinating with attorneys and clients and updating the firm's case management and client's management systems. Must have 1-2 years of experience preparing default services legal documents with knowledge of the foreclosure process. Knowledge of the entire foreclosure process, referral to post-sale, is a plus. Real Estate / Foreclosure Paralegal The candidate must have 2+ years of relevant real estate experience.'
