Job Title: Paralegal, Employment Single Action

Job Responsibilities:
Paralegals in the Employment practice at the law firm play a crucial role in supporting attorneys and partners with cases involving discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, and other employment issues through the litigation process. Key responsibilities include:

- Drafting discovery and deposition notices for attorney review.
- Preparing substantive responses for plaintiffs and reviewing defendant responses.
- Preparing tables of contents (TOC), tables of authorities (TOA), and other necessary documents for filing with state and federal courts.
- Drafting meet and confer letters, complaints, witness statements, and correspondence.
- Regularly communicating with clients, experts, and defense counsel in an effective and courteous manner.
- Owning calendaring and scheduling deadlines, ensuring accuracy, and providing attorneys with reminders for instructions 14, 7, and 3 days in advance.
- Assisting with pre-trial preparation, including drafting trial documents and preparing exhibits.
- Communicating effectively with partners and associates.

Education and Experience Information:
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

- A minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience in employment litigation for single plaintiffs, specifically under the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA).
- Strong knowledge of employment law and the state and federal filing process.
- Working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure.
- Familiarity with the DFEH (Department of Fair Employment and Housing) and EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) claims process.
- Experience in drafting and propounding discovery, initial complaints, meet and confer responses, witness statements, disclosures, designation of experts, objections letters, etc.
- Knowledge of e-Filing and California rules and deadlines for propounding, serving discovery, deposition notices, entry of default, motions, mandatory settlement conferences (MSC), trial setting conferences (TSC), etc.
- Experience in federal procedure is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Litify is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.

Salary Information:
The compensation for this position ranges from $72,000 to $105,000 annually, depending on experience.
