Job Title: Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Work with clients to obtain information and draft discovery responses, ensuring organized exhibits are submitted to the handling attorney at least 48 hours prior to the deadline for review and implementing attorney feedback.
- Bates stamp documents and know when to prepare and send supplemental discovery.
- Prepare and serve supplemental and/or specialized discovery.
- Print and save faxes to the appropriate folder on the server.
- Provide lit concierge service and updates to clients and providers on the status of cases.
- Coordinate with other staff to ensure all medical records and bills are obtained before preparing discovery responses.
- Supplement and amend discovery responses once new medical bills or records are obtained.
- Follow up with clients regarding settlement releases and coordinate with counsel to finalize the same.
- Draft requests for dismissal, coordinate the deposit of settlement checks as received, request settlement checks, review settled cases, and send cases to liens.
- Run monthly team reports for team meetings.
- When substituted out, prepare and send files and liens to new attorneys after review by the handling attorney.
- Request Ubers and set transportation for clients.
- Prepare discovery and mediation binders.
- Assist with deposition preparation by compiling necessary documentation for the handling attorney.
- Understand calendaring and fill in for other staff as necessary.
- Prepare documents for filing with the Court as needed.
- Order DMV records, background checks, and ISOs.
- Coordinate with outside investigators to obtain additional information as needed, with instruction and supervision from attorneys.
- Access social media, the internet, and Google Maps, downloading and saving for the file as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of litigation experience required.
Salary Information:
- Pay: $22/hr- $44/hr.
Additional Information:
- The position is full-time with flexible hours, Monday through Friday, 9-5 pm.
- The candidate should be very well organized, a critical thinker, a fast learner, able to handle and thrive in a fast-paced environment, have good follow-up skills, and possess strong communication and writing skills.
