US Antitrust Chief Varney to Step Down
Assistant attorney general, Christine Varney is to step down from her post that was joined by her in April 2009, in response to the reinvigoration of the antitrust enforcement. At the same time she also guaranteed that her departure will in no case affect the important ongoing matters such as AT&T review, for a new antitrust chief will be selected from the department itself. She will join the law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. She will work on antitrust issues related to mergers and acquisitions as a Cravath partner.
