Job Title: Senior Manager, Automation & Development

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Applications leadership team and IT architects to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the firm's Application Platforms.
- Create and manage the code review process for the department’s custom solutions and workflows, ensuring security and long-term viability.
- Develop data-driven strategies to enhance operations, improve decision-making, and optimize solutions for business efficiency.
- Enhance the firm's custom solutions to be cloud-first, modern, flexible, highly available, and of industry-leading quality.
- Coordinate with Application and Integrations, AI and Data Management, and Modern Workplace teams to ensure forward-thinking solutions.
- Work with IT Architects to enforce data governance, security, privacy protocols, and operational/firm design standards on all solutions.

Leading Collaboration and Cross-Functional Platform Design
- Manage requirements gathering for business initiatives and enterprise/team data projects.
- Design and implement scalable solutions that can be effectively leveraged by other teams and departments.
- Act as a catalyst for change by collaborating with Business Relationship Managers, Project Management Office, Organizational Change Managers, and Global Support Teams.
- Support the team in incorporating AI and automation to improve department efficiency.
- Communicate complex application and integration concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
- Serve as the liaison between business units and technical teams to align solution strategies with enterprise goals.

Firm Applications and Integrations Ownership
- Act as the technical owner of solutions by developing supporting teams and processes adhering to industry security and vendor best practices.
- Advocate for solutions prioritizing system stability, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop and refine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for managed applications and systems to drive strategic improvements.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure productive partnerships aligned with strategic goals.
- Serve as the technical owner for assigned solutions and collaborate on support, vulnerabilities, and audit requests.
- Oversee the design of custom solutions for a unified ecosystem and user experience.
- Ensure compliance with application and security policies by designing systems and procedures.
- Encourage support teams to develop automated processes to reduce maintenance.

Management and Leadership
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and focus on achieving results within the Enterprise Applications Team.
- Participate in the change control process, reviewing and approving solution designs to ensure stability, security, compliance, and availability.
- Define team roles and responsibilities in alignment with organizational objectives.
- Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse engineering team, including developers, application engineers, workflow engineers, and other roles.
- Serve as a direct supervisor, offering mentoring and managerial feedback.
- Encourage career advancement through training, professional development, and seminar participation.
- Report metrics, update project statuses, create work plans, and manage incident and request queues within the Enterprise Applications Department Management team.
- Supervise daily activities of direct reports, ensuring policy compliance and managing staffing coverage and on-call rotations.
- Participate in hiring processes, performance evaluations, counseling sessions, and other employee lifecycle events in coordination with HR.

Education and Experience Information:

- . in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience.
- Ability to multi-task, lead and mentor engineers/developers, and handle interruptions while maintaining flexibility.
- Aptitude for effectively communicating verbally and in writing with diverse personalities.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant people supervision and experience leading a team of 4 or more persons.
- Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated application support and administration, code/workflow development, or related experience in an application architecture capacity.
- Experience managing relationships, projects, and/or outsourcing with vendors.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft IIS, Azure Application Fabric, Microsoft Power Automate/Power Apps, Microsoft SharePoint, Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS), Azure Active Directory or Active Directory, Microsoft SQL, and ServiceNOW.
- Minimum of 8+ years working with multitier architecture applications or developed solutions leveraging high availability technologies.
- Experience managing solutions compliant with global data handling and regulatory standards, including GDPR, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, E-Discovery, and other regional privacy standards.
- Understanding of writing technical documentation and training materials for applications supported by the Enterprise Applications team.
- Deep knowledge of the legal industry, especially in conflict management systems, new business intake systems, document management systems, time entry, forms platforms, Knowledge Management, CRM, and legal operations.
