Job Title: Senior Manager, Automation & Development
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager, Automation & Development at the law firm is a pivotal role within the Information Technology Department. Key responsibilities include:
1. Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with Enterprise Applications leadership and IT architects to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the firm’s Application Platforms.
- Manage the code review process for custom solutions and workflows to ensure security and long-term viability.
- Develop data-driven strategies to improve operations and business efficiency.
- Enhance custom solutions to be cloud-first, modern, flexible, and industry-leading in quality.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure forward-thinking solutions with a future focus.
- Enforce data governance, security, privacy protocols, and operational design standards on all solutions.
2. Leading Collaboration and Cross-Functional Platform Design:
- Manage the requirements gathering process for enterprise/team data projects.
- Design and implement scalable solutions and services for operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with various managers and support teams to enhance changes to solutions and support processes.
- Support the integration of AI and automation to improve department efficiency.
- Convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Act as a liaison between business units and technical teams to align solutions with enterprise goals.
3. Firm Applications and Integrations Ownership:
- Serve as the technical owner of solutions, developing supporting teams and processes adhering to security and vendor best practices.
- Advocate for solutions prioritizing system stability, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop and refine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for managed applications and systems.
- Manage vendor relationships to align with strategic goals.
- Oversee the design of custom solutions for a unified ecosystem and user experience.
- Facilitate enforcement of application and security policies.
- Encourage automated processes to reduce maintenance.
4. Management and Leadership:
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and results within the Enterprise Applications Team.
- Participate in the change control process, ensuring all solutions are stable, secure, and compliant.
- Define team roles and responsibilities aligned with organizational objectives.
- Recruit, train, and mentor a diverse engineering team.
- Serve as a direct supervisor providing mentoring and feedback.
- Champion career advancement through training and professional development.
- Report metrics, update project statuses, and manage incident and request queues.
- Supervise daily activities of direct reports, ensuring compliance with firm and department policies.
- Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and other employee lifecycle events.
Education and Experience Information:
- A . in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience is required.
- Ability to multi-task, lead, and mentor engineers/developers under pressure.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant people supervision and experience leading a team of 4 or more persons.
- Minimum of 10 years of application support and administration, code/workflow development, or related experience in application architecture.
- Experience managing relationships and projects with vendors.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft IIS, Azure Application Fabric, Microsoft Power Automate/Power Apps, Microsoft SharePoint, Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS), Azure Active Directory, Microsoft SQL, and ServiceNOW.
- Minimum of 8+ years working with multitier architecture applications or high availability technologies.
- Experience managing solutions compliant with global data handling and regulatory standards like GDPR, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, E-Discovery.
- Understanding of writing technical documentation and training materials.
- Deep knowledge of the legal industry, especially in conflict management, new business intake systems, document management systems, time entry, forms platforms, Knowledge Management, CRM, and legal operations.
