Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide monthly status updates to clients regarding active litigation files.
- Manage case files by opening and closing litigation files, and updating litigation management software with docketing, notes, orders, and status reports.
- Prepare initial documents such as Summons, Motions, and initial letters to clients.
- Draft routine motions, including motions for extension, vacate, and special process server/alternative service.
- Prepare Notice of Deposition forms and similar legal documents.
- Handle service of process, including preparation of summonses/alias summonses and filing affidavits of service with the courts.
- Arrange for service and monitor service processes.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding the status of their cases.
- Prepare petitions and affidavits of attorney fees and costs.
- Maintain routine communications with clients, attorneys, and vendors.
- E-file new lawsuits, motions, and other pleadings.
- Schedule court reporters and prepare administrative requests/subpoenas for litigators.
- Assist in all aspects of discovery and trial preparation across various jurisdictions.
- Organize and maintain case files and handle legal filings, including online filings.
- Draft routine pleadings and assist in preparation of large document productions.
- Gather, prepare, and summarize relevant case materials for attorney review.
Education and Experience Information:
- 1-3 years as a litigation paralegal and/or 3+ years of practical experience is required.
- Paralegal certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience in community association law is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with online calendaring and docketing systems is essential.
- Strong computer skills are required, specifically in all Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with LexisNexis and Summation programs is a plus.
Salary Information:
- The starting hourly rate for this position is , contingent upon the level of experience.
Additional Information:
- The position is full-time, non-exempt, with business hours from 9:00 . to 5:00 ., Monday through Friday.
- It initially requires working in-office, with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule. The work schedule will be confirmed with the department manager at the time of hire.
