Job Title: Legal Assistant
Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant will work closely with a lead Attorney and a Litigation Paralegal. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting legal processes and improving workflow efficiency. Specific duties include:
- Performing administrative tasks such as scheduling calendar hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
- Maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes.
- Organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
- Implementing and improving administrative processes for more efficient workflow.
- Collecting, examining, and organizing evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation.
- Drafting and proofreading correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts.
- Researching regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, case files, and legal advice.
- Managing client billing by preparing, finalizing, and sending out bills, as well as resolving billing issues in cooperation with the billing attorney.
- Communicating with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions.
- Managing, organizing, and maintaining documents in paper or electronic filing systems.
- Providing general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the attorney’s calendar and making travel arrangements.
Education and Experience Information:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- An Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Bachelor’s Degree, or a Paralegal Certificate is preferred.
- Experience in Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, Premises, First Party, or other injury-related practice areas is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience as an Administrative Assistant, preferably in a law firm setting or in a corporate legal department.
- Candidates should be highly organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize, handle a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with a great attitude and minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including good presentation skills, are essential.
- The position is not eligible for remote work.
