Defense Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Defense Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the Construction Defects department within the law firm. The candidate will focus on pre-suit matters and will be involved in the following duties:
- Assisting in drafting responses to Demands for Arbitration and Discovery
- Drafting responses to complaints and discovery requests
- Preparing materials and documents necessary for hearings
- Filing and servicing circuit court filings
- Drafting settlement agreements, obtaining signatures, and managing fund disbursements
- Tracking mediation outcomes, settlements, and tender of payments
- Requesting documents from clients as needed
- Assisting in the preparation of team snapshots for meetings
- Updating claims database regularly
- Preparing responses to Notices of Claims
- Preparing Work Authorization Agreements
- Requesting and managing copies of inspections and estimates
- Preparing claims for final hearings
- Consistently achieving the 1650 billable hour requirement, including approved non-billable time
Education and Experience Information:
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's Degree or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program is preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal is required.
- Experience in construction defects is required.
- Prior experience in billing time is necessary.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Defense Litigation Paralegal position at the law firm varies based on several factors, including education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity. The full compensation range for this position is between $75,200 and $105,300 for locations including Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa.
