- Law firm seeking full-time patent engineers with backgrounds in electrical engineering.
- Work directly with engineers and scientists at client companies to prepare and prosecute patent applications.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge inventions in various technologies such as computer networking, video processing, and solar energy.
- Bachelor's degree required, 1-2 years of patent prosecution or industry experience preferred.
- Eligibility to sit for US Patent Bar required, willingness to take and pass exam within one year of hiring preferred.
- Competitive salary range of $80,000 to $130,000 annually.

Responsibilities:
- Review state of the art and work with inventors to identify novel features for patenting.
- Draft patent applications and work with patent examiners at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
- Conduct patent searches to identify prior art for use in patentability searches and litigation matters.
- Technical review and citation checking of legal briefs in patent litigation.
- Interview inventors and complete CAD drawings and specifications.
- Maintain knowledge of client requirements and needs for filing.
- Uphold file integrity and assist in prioritizing workload and monitoring due dates.
- Complete assigned work in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain high-quality work product and attention to detail.
- Assigned mentor and internal training provided.
- Minimum billable hours requirement of 1,500.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and excellent academic credentials required.
- 1-2 years of patent prosecution or industry experience in electrical engineering and/or related field preferred.
- Strong writing, research, and technical skills.
- Ability to work with reviewing patent attorney on work product.
Opportunities for Growth and Advancement:
- Upon passage of Patent Bar, may be advanced to Patent Agent.
- Upon starting law school, may be advanced to Patent Law Clerk.
- Upon completion of law school, path to attorney role in the firm.
Location:
- Main offices located in Washington ., Chicago, and Boston.
- Remote work possible anywhere in the US.
Salary Range:
- Competitive salary range of $80,000 to $130,000 annually.
- Based on numerous factors including education, qualifications, experience, skills, location, and business needs.
- Eligible for annual merit increase and bonus pay.
