Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for a variety of tasks that require a deep understanding of legal terminology and processes, particularly within the Torts and Insurance Practice Group. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing complex paralegal duties that encompass case management from inception through discovery and verdict.
- Preparing, editing, and drafting correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
- Preparing, editing, and filing subpoenas, briefs, pleadings, and other legal filings in various state and federal courts.
- Planning and scheduling conferences, depositions, and meetings.
- Maintaining calendars, including court deadlines, appearances, and discovery deadlines.
- Conducting searches through databases like library resources, Secretary of State, PACER, SJIS, LEXIS, Internet, and Autotrack.
- Creating complex databases for document management.
- Preparing PowerPoint presentations and summaries of research and reports.
- Reviewing documents for privileged material and drafting discovery documents.
- Assisting with discovery matters and handling document productions.
- Performing legal searches and retrieving case law.
- Attending mediations, depositions, hearings, conferences, trials, and other court meetings as necessary.
- Proofreading documents and collaborating with the legal team.
- Responding to inquiries for information as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, paralegal certification, or a degree, or an appropriate combination of education and experience. Additional requirements include:
- Familiarity with State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, excellent writing abilities, and the capability to draft documents independently.
- Experience with drafting and electronic filing of pleadings, motions, deposition scheduling and summarization, trial preparation, and legal research.
- Proficiency with PACER, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other document management software.
- Preferred knowledge of e-discovery, Trial Director, and Relativity.
