Job Title: User Experience/User Interface (“UX/UI”) Designer

Job Responsibilities:

The UX/UI Designer at the law firm is responsible for focusing on the critical importance of user research, testing, and iterative design in creating AI-driven features tailored to meet the specific challenges and opportunities within the legal sector. The role requires navigating complex legal and regulatory requirements, particularly in a large law firm environment. This position involves close coordination with cross-functional teams and strict adherence to agile practices. The designer is tasked with maintaining consistent branding and scalable design patterns to ensure a cohesive and adaptable design framework across the enterprise. Key responsibilities include:

- Conducting user interviews, surveys, and usability tests to gather insights and validate design decisions.
- Performing task analyses and developing user flows to ensure an optimal user experience.
- Creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using tools like Figma.
- Utilizing advanced prototyping techniques to demonstrate AI-based features and workflows.
- Designing wireframes and mockups for both web and mobile applications.
- Collaborating with product owners, engineers, and AI specialists to iteratively develop high-quality software solutions.
- Participating in Agile ceremonies such as daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Collaborating with clients and team members to understand project requirements and develop design concepts.
- Developing and maintaining a design system or style guide for scalable, consistent experiences across multiple products.
- Advocating for a cohesive and contemporary visual identity that aligns with the law firm’s professional standards.
- Ensuring designs meet WCAG standards and adhere to relevant legal and enterprise compliance requirements.
- Working with legal teams and compliance officers to confirm that AI-driven interfaces meet all necessary guidelines.
- Staying current with AI/ML interface patterns, data visualization techniques, and explainable AI best practices.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines.
- Presenting design concepts and findings to stakeholders, gathering feedback, and driving consensus.
- Providing training sessions and resources to team members on design systems, tools, and processes.
- Offering training and support to team members on design and technology-related topics as needed.
- Mentoring junior designers or interns as required.
- Performing all other duties as assigned or required.

Education and Experience Information:

Required:
- 3+ years of direct applicable experience in user experience and interface design, preferably in enterprise or complex software environments.
- Senior candidates may be considered with 5+ years of directly applicable experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma (or similar) for designing and prototyping.
- Solid knowledge of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Kendo UI Tools, and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
- Familiarity with WCAG or other accessibility standards and the ability to build inclusive experiences.
- Comfort with data-driven design decisions, utilizing analytics or user feedback to refine experiences.

Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience working in or with large law firms (AMLAW 200 preferred).
- AI & Emerging Tech experience, including exposure to AI/ML projects and understanding of user flows involving AI-driven insights.
- Prior experience building or maintaining design systems for enterprise applications.
- Figma Administration.

Salary Information:

Cooley offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $90,000 - $130,000. Final offer amounts will depend on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate. Senior-level candidates may be considered for this position and would be eligible for a higher salary range based on experience.
