Job Description:

- Maintain strong, productive relationships with key internal clients while serving as a trusted legal advisor, legal risk manager, and business partner.
- Serve as a technical expert in particular area(s) of specialization.
- Provide legal advice to business and functional partners regarding the risks related to all aspects of human capital management.
- Manage a portfolio of employment litigation and work with outside counsel to develop strategy and optimize case resolutions.
- Promptly respond to client inquiries and perform legal research.
- Keep business clients and risk partners informed of developments in employment laws and regulations.
- Work with human resources compliance officers to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Assist other attorneys with legal assignments as needed.
- Counsel business and risk partners on policies, procedures, and templates to comply with employment laws and regulations.
- This position will not have any direct reports, but will have informal oversight of a paralegal.

Qualifications:

- 8 years of experience practicing employment law in an in-house and large law firm or equivalent position.
- Strong familiarity with state and federal labor and employment laws and regulations.
- Experience handling EEOC, OSHA, and other employment agency matters.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to balance business needs with legal risks.
- Well-organized and able to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated willingness to collaborate and build relationships with colleagues and business partners.
- Member in good standing as a State Bar member or in-house counsel.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 10+ years of experience practicing law in employment law.
- Broad experience advising business clients and human resources on statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Experience with employment law support for disability, pregnancy, religious accommodations, FINRA arbitrations, and The Broker Protocol.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other word processing and database management applications.

Other Job Requirements/Working Conditions:

- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Able to access and interpret client information received from the computer.
- Able to hear and speak with individuals in person and on the phone.
- Able to work standard office equipment.
- Availability to work all scheduled hours, including overtime as needed.
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
