Responsibilities:

As the Senior Legal Counsel for US Employment at Smith+Nephew, you will play a crucial role in providing proactive and practical advice on a wide range of employment issues to our HR team and internal business partners. You will also be responsible for monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, developing and reviewing company policies, and providing training to ensure compliance with employment laws. Additionally, you will draft and negotiate employment-related documents and lead or support internal investigations related to employment and human resources issues. You will also represent the company in employment-related disputes and litigation and oversee outside counsel for employment matters.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in at least one US state
- 6+ years of experience in a dedicated employment law practice, preferably in healthcare/pharma/medical devices
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment laws
- Ability to provide employment advice for a mixed employee/contractor workforce
