John Montgomery Holmes Jr., a reputed criminal defense and divorce lawyer from Raleigh, North Carolina, was arrested last Saturday on various charges and later released on the same day. According to reports, Holmes had been drinking at the City Limits Saloon until the bar refused to serve him more drinks and compelled him to leave.

He was escorted to a cab, but the thoroughly drunk lawyer jumped out tried to attack the bar's door and attempted to kick it down. Law enforcement serving as security at the bar tried to restrain him, but Holmes kicked the officer, and was subsequently arrested.

He was then taken to Wake County Jail and WakeMed.

At WakeMed, Holmes was handcuffed and escorted by a nurse and a law enforcement officer to the toilet for obtaining a sample of his urine. He started to provide the sample, but then decided to throw the collected urine in the face of his escorts.

Holmes was charged with assaulting a female, assaulting a government officer, for intoxicated and disruptive behavior, for resisting a public officer, for second-degree trespass, and for malicious conduct by a prisoner.

The assault-on-a-female charge relates to Holmes' act of throwing the plastic container filled with urine at the WakeMed employee, and according to the arrest warrants, the urine "splashed on [her] upper body, arm and neck."

Holmes was held at the Wake County Detention Center and released on a $30,000 bond.

Holmes is not only known as a prominent criminal defense attorney in Harnett and Lee County, but he also practices family law and works as a divorce lawyer in Wake County. Seriously, it is unexpected of a man in control of his senses, but as the records show, Holmes was not in possession of his faculties, and his blood alcohol level was extremely high.
