The experienced, knowledgeable staff makes personal, individualized attention a top priority. The OCS assists students and alumni in defining career goals and developing job search strategies. The OCS also offers a broad range of programs and workshops featuring public and private sectors, courts and non-profits, to help students better understand the many options available to them. The OCS offers a broad range of materials on the virtual resource 'Blackboard', as well as a resource library.

The Law School also offers a summer public service fellowship programs, which give students working at non-profit and governmental agencies financial support. In addition, the loan repayment assistance program helps students who opt for jobs in public service.


Blackboard OCS Resources for Students is online, and features a wide variety of resources and information on many topics, including alternative careers, externships, faculty summer research assistantships, networking, judicial clerkships, off-campus interview programs, and interviewing tips.

The OCS has an established reputation with employers all over the world, and is well known among all levels of legal professionals, including judges, attorneys and recruiters.

The OCS also uses Symplicity for managing on-campus interviews, resumes, and job postings.

The OCS maintains a directory of alumni for students' use as a resource in networking and job searches.

William & Mary School of Law's Office of Career Services (OCS) requires all students to sign and adhere to a 'Statement of Student Professionalism.' The statement establishes an understanding about and a responsibility toward professionalism during the recruiting and hiring process. Among the many areas covered by the statement is the students' assurance that emails, voice mails and social media will be professional and comply with certain standards put forth in the statement.
