Entertainment specialist joins Loeb & Loeb
Entertainment expert from Baker & Hostetler Thomas A. Guida is joining Loeb &aamp; Loeb, LLP's New York office as a partner. Guida will contribute to the firm's intellectual property and entertainment practices. Additionally, he will concentrate on the issues of development, licensing, financing, and IP protection. Guida will mainly work on media, entertainment, and licensing transactions. He has significant expertise with regard to joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and distribution agreements for music, software, television, and film licenses. Guida has also litigated disputes related to complex trademark, copyright, and domain name matters. In the past two months, Loeb & Loeb has added four lateral partners to its IP practice. With 260 attorneys, the firm operates Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Nashville offices.

A&L Goodbody sets up office in Belfast
Law firm A&L Goodbody is expanding its operations by opening an office in Belfast. The new office is the result of a deal struck with local firm Stafford Thompson Johnston Legal. Peter Stafford, Mark Thompson, and Patricia Johnston, the founders of STJ Legal, are joining A&L Goodbody as partners in the firm's new office. Although A&L Goodbody already advises domestic and international firms in the area, it believes that setting up an office in Belfast will add to its Northern Ireland practice. With 62 partners and a legal staff of more than 250 in its Dublin, London, Boston, and New York offices, the firm specializes in corporate law.

IP expert joins Jenner & Block as partner
Intellectual property expert Susan J. Kohlmann has joined the New York office of Jenner & Block as a partner in its litigation department. Prior to joining Jenner & Block, Kohlmann chaired the New York office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, LLP. Kohlmann has handled a wide range of litigation matters related to copyright, trademark, and trade-secret disputes for high-profile clients. With 450 lawyers in its Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Washington, DC, offices, the firm provides expertise in almost all areas of law to its diverse clients.

Goodwin Procter sets up offices in San Diego and Los Angeles
Goodwin Procter, LLP, is expanding its presence in California by opening two more offices in the state—one in San Diego and another in downtown Los Angeles. The expansion is meant to broaden the firm's practice in areas including technology and life sciences, real estate, and estate investment. To consolidate the expansion, the firm is also adding expert partners. Stephen C. Ferruolo and Ryan A. Murr will join the firm's San Diego office, while Dean C. Pappas, Dani L. Vogt, and Edward C. Hagerott, Jr., will work in the Los Angeles office. Prior to joining Goodwin Procter, Ferruolo and Murr were partners with Heller Ehrman; Pappas and Vogt worked for Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw; and Hagerott worked for Munger, Tolles & Olson. With a team of 700 attorneys and offices in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, and Washington, DC, Goodwin Procter concentrates on corporate law, litigation, and real estate.

Kilpatrick Stockton expands investment practice
Recognized widely for its intellectual property practice, Kilpatrick Stockton is now expanding its investment practice. Investment expert Tom Steed will join the corporate department of the firm's Raleigh office as counsel. Prior to joining Kilpatrick Stockton, Steed worked for a mutual fund administrator. Steed's expertise in mutual and hedge fund administration, public and private offerings, and compliance matters is expected to bolster the firm's investment practice. With 500 attorneys in its nine offices across the eastern United States and in Europe, Kilpatrick Stockton provides business solutions and counsel to corporations at all stages of growth.

Otillar to bolster Baker & McKenzie's global energy practice
Steven P. Otillar has joined Baker & McKenzie's Houston office as a partner in its major projects sector. Before joining Baker & McKenzie, Otillar was with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey. Otillar's key focus areas will remain energy and infrastructure development with an emphasis on global and cross-border work. As counsel, Otillar has provided comprehensive legal assistance to many global clients. He has advised U.S. companies in international oil and gas exploration and production matters. In addition, Otillar has helped his clients with matters relating to the acquisition and sale of foreign entities and assets. He has been instrumental in creating investment vehicles for international oil and gas development ventures. Baker & McKenzie employs 3,400 attorneys and has 70 offices in 38 countries.
