We are hearing this very story several times a week. Even in a flourishing economy, we find that senior level attorneys, especially general litigators, have a difficult time finding a new position after being let go from their firm. Criminal law is an important branch of law that deals with various kinds of offences related to sex, robbery, drugs, or murder among many other crimes. The field of criminal law is extremely challenging, the lawyers are required to be extremely tactful, detail oriented and analytical in their investigations. A candidate who wants to enter into this field of law is required to undergo thorough training from the law schools. One needs to obtain a criminal law degree from a certified law school. This enables the law students to get apprenticeships in law firms very easily. The first thing you must obtain in order to become a criminal lawyer is a bachelor's degree. There are countless number of law colleges and universities providing major courses in pre-law. The school entry level exam or the LSLAT needs to be cleared. You can also gain access to a law school having other degrees as well. The law school or college you are entering must be certified by the bar association. Question: I am a senior (Class of 1998) business litigator who has been laid off of a small boutique firm since June 2009. I have approximately $50,000-$100,000 in portable business that I have maintained for several years now. I have interviewed with several firms in the various geographic regions that my family and I can move to; however, I have not yet received an offer. Many of the firms require more portable business. I am unable to look outside of the state due to my wife's job, and I am losing hope. There simply are not any other firms I can apply to, and I am thinking about starting my own firm. Any suggestions?
