The West's Best-Kept Secret: University of Utah: S.J. Quinney College of Law

About the S.J. Quinney College of Law

Founded in 1913, the S.J. Quinney College of Law now offers a variety of programs including J.D. and L.L.M. degrees, with joint degrees in law and business administration or public administration, as well as an environmental certificate. Additionally, they also offer their students a comprehensive program appellate litigation and trial advocacy.

With a total of 400 enrolled in the J.D. program this year, the school provides a small, intimate, learning atmosphere and a student-to-faculty ratio of 9.5 to 1.

The student-body is both intelligent and diverse with the median G.P.A. of the school's entering class among the highest of all law schools, and 62% fluent in a foreign language, according to the school's website. The school also boasts 90% of their students pass the Utah State Bar on their first attempt, as well as 100% employment for their 2007 graduating class.

The S.J. Quinney College of Las offers many opportunities for its students to have hands-on learning opportunities with a semester abroad program in London, England; the Pro Bono Initiative which allows students to work with a public interest attorney; the student-edited Utah Law Review, Journal of Law and Family Studies, and Journal of Land, Resources, and Environmental Law; and the chance to participate in the National Moot Court Competition.
