05/16/06 Boeing appoints Luttig as GC The world's largest aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, has appointed Judge J. Michael Luttig, once considered a Supreme Court candidate, as Senior Vice-President and General Counsel. Luttig will replace retiring GC Douglas G. Bain. Luttig sits on the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, VA. He became the nation's youngest appellate judge when he was appointed at the age of 37 by President George H.W. Bush in 1991. Serving nearly 145 countries on a global scale, Boeing is the world's leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft combined. Apple on the lookout for new General Counsel Apple Computer's Nancy Heinen has left the company, thus leaving the position open for a new General Counsel and Secretary. The company's Chief Financial Officer, Peter Oppenheimer, will look after the legal department temporarily. Heinen joined Apple in September 1997 following the company's acquisition of NeXT Software, Inc. She has followed the steps of Chief Software Technology Officer, Avie Tevanian, and Senior Vice President of iPod Division, Jon Rubinstein, both of whom ended their tenure at the company in late March. SES GLOBAL appoints new GC Catherine Fox has been appointed the new General Counsel by the world's largest satellite operator, SES GLOBAL. Fox has extensive knowledge of the telecommunications industry and offers first-hand experience in dealing with European as well as international law. In her new role, she will head the legal functions of the company, including corporate, regulatory, and European affairs. Fox is a French National with wide experience in the advanced technology environment.
Century Aluminum Company has new GC Century Aluminum, the third-largest producer of primary aluminum in North America, announced the appointment of Robert R. Nielsen as the new Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary. Nielsen previously served as General Counsel to Tanimura & Antle, Inc., one of the largest privately held agribusiness companies in the nation. Century Aluminum Company reported net sales of approximately $1.13 billion in 2005. The company's corporate offices are located in Monterey, CA, while its plants are located in West Virginia, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Iceland. CMU General Counsel to sit on NCAA governance committee Eileen Jennings, General Counsel of Central Michigan University (CMU), will chair the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division I Committee on Infractions. She will provide counseling on athletic compliance issues relating to the rules and enforcement processes of the NCAA. Jennings has been appointed for a three-year tenure that will begin in September 2006. Jennings, CMU's General Counsel since 1983, is vested with professional interests in legal relations between students and colleges. VendingData welcomes gaming expert as VP and GC Walter B. Stowe, Jr., has joined VendingData Corporation as Vice President and General Counsel. Bringing with him 26 years of rich experience, Stowe is apt for this new role, as he is a legal and compliance expert in the gaming industry. Stowe previously served as Vice President at Aristocrat Technologies, where he trained a technical compliance team to effectively manage product approvals. VendingData Corporation is a Las Vegas-based developer, manufacturer, and distributor of innovative products for the gaming industry. MCK's new General Counsel to get $425,000 as salary Laureen E. Seeger, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of McKesson Corporation, is slated to fetch a base salary of $425,000. A filing at the SEC revealed that Seeger was given a non-qualified option on 50,000 shares of the company at a price of $49 per share. As per the filing, her target award under the management incentive plan will be $318,750. McKesson Corporation is a leading supplier of healthcare tools, with annual revenues exceeding $80 billion.
