Job Title: IP Trademark Docketing Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The IP Trademark Docketing Specialist is responsible for supporting attorneys and clients with trademark prosecution activities. Key duties include:
- Following firm procedures and risk management guidelines to perform complex tasks.
- Analyzing, reviewing, and processing all trademark correspondence, including both domestic and foreign communications, particularly those from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Docketing USPTO and foreign trademark mail into the docketing system.
- Modifying, adding, and maintaining docket records, and de-docketing pertinent deadlines.
- Opening new matters and creating, modifying, and generating docket and status reports.
- Processing incoming file transfers and generating daily docket of deadlines to ensure compliance.
- Responding to various requests from legal staff and other departments.
- Ensuring accurate entry and date calculation for case information and verifying daily PTO submissions.
- Communicating with attorneys and staff regarding pending action items and following up as necessary.
- Performing special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
- 2-4 years of trademark docketing experience, preferably with CPI.
- Working knowledge of trademark docketing procedures, including USPTO and foreign practices.
- Advanced knowledge of trademark docketing processes, typically acquired through training, education, and several years of experience in the IP field.
- Ability to adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances.
- Capability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Professional conduct, service-oriented attitude, and acute attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Education:
- Paralegal Certificate and/or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
