JOB TITLE: Marketing & Business Development Specialist

LOCATION: Philadelphia

SUMMARY: The Marketing and Business Development Specialist at the law firm will collaborate closely with a diverse group of colleagues across the entire organization, including over 900 lawyers, 40+ marketing and business development (MBD) colleagues, and numerous individuals in other administrative departments. The Specialist will support various practice, industry, and firm initiatives. This role requires handling a mix of responsibilities in a front-line/hands-on capacity, including managing rankings, awards, and surveys, conducting competitive intelligence and research, and participating in various client-focused initiatives and special projects. Independent management of selected long-range activities is a key aspect of this position, offering an excellent opportunity to develop and expand writing, organizational, and project management skills. Success in this role demands responsiveness, proactivity, attention to detail, curiosity, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a steadfast commitment to client service. A sense of humor is also appreciated.

Job Responsibilities:

- Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with lawyers, managers, and colleagues.
- Adhere to the law firm's best practices, templates, and styles to ensure consistent deliverables and identify and implement improvements.
- Create, manage, and own submissions to key award and ranking organizations, surveys, directories, and similar entities, such as Chambers, Legal 500, and Law360. This includes planning, targeting, outreach, drafting, submission, and internal and external reporting/announcements.
- Develop relationships with key external organizations, researchers, and stakeholders to support and enhance efforts year over year and to implement best practices.
- Proactively seek out projects and opportunities to advance knowledge and skills.
- Engage in special projects and other duties as required, providing exposure and experience across the spectrum of large law firm marketing and business development needs.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Understand and fluently navigate key practice and industry areas, as well as key clients.
- Previous exposure to lawyer/law firm rankings is advantageous.
- Strong business sense and awareness, including current events, competitive analysis/research, and opportunity evaluation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
- Respond promptly and positively to service and assistance requests.
- Proficient in Office Suite and general web research; familiarity with InterAction and legal research tools (., Thomson Monitor, Hoovers) is a plus.
- Must be outgoing, comfortable demonstrating initiative, and able to think critically and creatively.
- High sense of proactivity, responsibility, accountability, and focus on responsiveness.
- Poise, professionalism, and a high degree of comfort dealing with people at all levels of an organization, as well as external business contacts.
- 2-5+ years of related experience; experience with an AmLaw 100 firm is a plus.
- College degree required; an English or other writing-intensive background is helpful.
