Job Title: Communications Specialist

Job Responsibilities:

- Identify opportunities to enhance the profile of the practice and partners through media engagement, contributed content, and other thought leadership campaigns.
- Promote newsworthy transactions and litigation victories via appropriate media channels to drive media engagement.
- Collaborate in executing strategies related to bylined articles and other contributed content, including coordinating the submission of copy and related publication agreements.
- Identify opportunities for media commentary and create preparatory materials.
- Conduct research and analysis on prospective and scheduled speakers at law firm events, compiling reports on commentary, social media, and thought leadership.
- Monitor and manage data on the law firm’s press coverage; conduct media sweeps as necessary.
- Keep up with industry knowledge by monitoring news wires, clipping services, and reading industry-specific media/publications.
- Develop and maintain website content, partner biographies, and other business development and communications materials across multiple channels.
- Support the creation of advertising, posters, flyers, and other promotional materials, working with the Graphic Design team and outside vendors where appropriate.
- Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of business development and communications materials, including brochures, practice area descriptions, and other content.
- Assist in preparing award submissions and survey responses for various legal and business publications, working with key law firm stakeholders.
- Execute LinkedIn strategy support.
- Support business development projects and other law firm initiatives as needed.
- Perform various business and operational support functions related to communications and business development strategies, policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Collaborate with the broader business development team as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience Information:

- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment.
- Proven ability to exercise initiative and sound independent judgment.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to develop buy-in, interact well, and build professional relationships with key stakeholders while maintaining a high level of customer service, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Excellent research and analytical abilities.
- Ability to assess needs, assign priorities, develop strategies, and make recommendations when presented with ambiguous or incomplete information.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to make sound decisions, escalating as appropriate.
- Ability to effectively share knowledge and resources with relevant parties, both internally and externally.
- Ability to anticipate business challenges of partners and senior team members and proactively address needs with self-assuredness and business acumen.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and web-based research.
- Flexibility and willingness to work additional hours as needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

- 3-4 years of experience in a law firm or professional services business preferred.
- Experience with website content creation and/or website content posting preferred.

Physical Demands:

Salary Information:

- NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 at the time of posting.
- The actual salary offered will depend on various factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt, meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
