Job Title: Senior Manager, Automation & Development

Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager, Automation & Development at the law firm plays a critical role within the Information Technology Department. This position involves leading teams to optimize the utilization, maintenance, and integration of the firm’s custom-developed applications and workflows. The responsibilities are multifaceted and include strategic planning, collaboration, application ownership, and management and leadership.

1. Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Applications leadership team and IT architects to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the firm’s Application Platforms.
- Manage the code review process for the department’s custom solutions and workflows to ensure security and longevity.
- Develop data-driven strategies to enhance operations, improve decision-making, and optimize solutions for business efficiency.
- Enhance the firm's custom solutions to be modern, flexible, highly available, and of industry-leading quality.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure solutions are future-ready, focusing on data governance, security, privacy, and operational standards.

2. Leading Collaboration and Cross-Functional Platform Design:
- Manage requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation for business requirements in supported initiatives and projects.
- Design and implement scalable solutions that are practical and easy to integrate into daily operations.
- Collaborate with various managers and teams to drive innovation and improve department efficiency using AI and automation.
- Convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively and act as a liaison between business units and technical teams.

3. Firm Applications and Integrations Ownership:
- Act as the technical owner of solutions, developing supporting teams, structures, and processes.
- Advocate for solutions prioritizing system stability, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop and refine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure performance and drive strategic improvements.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure they align with the firm's strategic goals.
- Oversee the design of custom solutions to create a unified ecosystem and user experience.
- Facilitate the enforcement of application and security policies and encourage the development of automated processes to reduce maintenance.

4. Management and Leadership:
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and adherence to enterprise processes within the Enterprise Applications Team.
- Participate in the change control process, ensuring all solutions are stable, secure, compliant, and highly available.
- Define team roles and responsibilities, recruit and mentor a diverse team, and encourage professional development.
- Serve as a direct supervisor, providing mentoring, guidance, and managerial feedback.
- Manage team activities, staffing coverage, on-call rotations, and participate in hiring processes and performance evaluations.

Education and Experience Information:
- . in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience is required.
- Ability to multi-task, lead and mentor engineers/developers, work under pressure, and handle interruptions.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant people supervision and experience leading a team of 4 or more persons.
- Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated application support and administration, code/workflow development, or related experience.
- Experience in managing relationships, projects, and outsourcing with vendors.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Office Suite, IIS, Azure, Power Automate/Apps, SharePoint, Active Directory, SQL, and ServiceNOW.
- Minimum of 8+ years working with multitier architecture applications or high availability technologies.
- Experience in managing solutions that comply with global data handling and regulatory standards, including GDPR, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, E-Discovery.
- Understanding of writing technical documentation and training materials.
- Deep knowledge of the legal industry, especially in conflict management systems, new business intake systems, document management systems, time entry, forms platforms, Knowledge Management, CRM, and legal operations.
