Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare various legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, and legal memoranda.
- E-file all court documents in both state and federal courts.
- Communicate with clients, courts, counsel, and other involved parties.
- Conduct legal research and factual investigations to support cases.
- Prepare discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses.
- Draft and serve summons.
- Coordinate and summarize depositions.
- Prepare trial binders and exhibits.
- Draft pleadings, motions, and appellate documents and file them with the court.
- Perform administrative duties such as calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes.
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
- Assist attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests.
- Gather relevant information from a variety of sources.
- Liaise between trial teams and internal/external third parties.
- Prepare witnesses for trial.
- Assist with case settlements.
- Perform other tasks as requested by the attorney.
Education and Experience Information:
- An associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of litigation experience is required.
- Completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program is preferred.
- Experience in personal injury, workers' compensation, premises liability, or other injury-related practice areas is preferred.
- Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Proficiency in calendaring depositions, mediations, and hearings is necessary.
- Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures is essential.
- Must be highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Extensive computer and database expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required.
- Typing speed of no less than 35 words per minute is required.
