Job Title: Legal Assistant - Title

Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Assistant in the Title department at the law firm will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to real estate law. The primary duties include:

- Analyzing Title Reports and summarizing items that need to be cleared for properties in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
- Reviewing and confirming the validity of legal descriptions.
- Verifying parties in the chain of title to ensure the vesting deed is correct.
- Determining the conditions required to obtain clear title through foreclosure, deed in lieu, tax sale, or other conveyances.
- Examining security deeds, liens, judgments, easements, plats, tax maps, and surveys to verify legal descriptions, ownership, restrictions, or conformity to requirements.
- Preparing documentation of reviews and correspondence to transmit requirements for clearing title to vendors and clients.
- Initiating and following up on title-issue resolutions with vendors, attorneys, and clients.
- Working closely with the title curative staff.
- Updating internal systems as well as multiple client systems.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Legal Assistant position must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of experience reviewing property titles in Pennsylvania and New Jersey or Title Curative experience is required. Candidates should be familiar with title insurance commitment, policy format, and all procedures required to prepare these documents, including abstracting, title examinations/review, and post-closing processes. A working knowledge of foreclosure processes and legal documents, as well as their effect on title to real property, is considered a plus.

Salary Information:
The position is full-time, with compensation that is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. It is a non-exempt position and includes a comprehensive benefits package with offerings such as 401(k) and paid time off.
