Summary of Duties:
- Determines and authors the official record of every action in a court of general jurisdiction
- Records minutes, maintains custody of all notices and documents presented in court, and processes exhibits
- Directs courtroom procedures for hearings and trials involving complex, contested cases

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- 1 year of work experience in a court or legal setting, which includes preparation and/or processing of legal forms and documents in court proceedings
- 6 months of courtroom experience, with at least 6 months comparable to a Circuit Court Clerk I or District Court Clerk II
- Typing proficiency of 40 net words per minute

Substitutions Allowed:
- Education at an accredited college or university in a paralegal, legal studies, law program, or a closely related field may be substituted for up to 1 year of specialized experience
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or a closely related field may be substituted for 1 year of specialized experience

Qualification for Firearms (Lautenberg):
- Applicants must be qualified to possess firearm or ammunition in accordance with state and federal laws, ., no misdemeanor or felony domestic violence conviction
